The Klaylife beaded chandelier, a classic industrial form, is given an organic, uniquely South African point of view. Drawing on their rich heritage and artisan tradition, women in the rural KwaZulu-Natal Midlands hand-roll more than 3000 clay beads for each pendant. The natural-hued beads are then dried in the sun, dip-dyed, kiln fired and strung by hand on a wrought-iron frame.
