• What makes alabaster special as one of the leading materials in the manufacture of chandeliers? A specific and rare crystallization of gypsum creates the unique texture and translucent appearance of alabaster. Preserved underground, the stone emerges lackluster, inviting sculptors to reveal its secrets and splendors, variations and transparencies. White translucent alabaster in the dimensions we require for our creations is rare. Moreover, it offers myriad patterns – fluid or crystallized, white or ochre – and many degrees of transparency. It is thanks to our high standards and expertise that we are able to compose harmonious sets. Alabaster is amazingly tender, making it easy to shape and sculpt.

• Over the centuries, the functionality of alabaster has been extended to lamps and chandeliers. Commonly used as lamp covers for the individual light bulbs of a chandelier, alabaster has been effective in muting the glare of the bulbs to a soft, warm glow. It is for the preservation of this unique, subdued glow that interior designers have been incorporating alabaster in the many styles of chandeliers, ranging from antique designs to chic modern styles.

• “Alabastron” was the name of a village in Old Egypt, located near the city of Thebes, in which a calcareous-type translucent stone was extracted. It seems that the term also referred to objects (e.g. vessels, cups) originating from that place, which, originally, were made with this material. Eventually, the term began to refer only to the white, translucent rock used in art and in the manufacturing of much appreciated vessels.
• Alabaster, mostly found in some desert regions. Italy, England, Spain, Mexico, United States of America are the major localities of Alabaster. Often used for carving, Alabaster crystals are one of the forms of Selenite gemstone. Generally, Alabaster has been used magically to symbolize transparency and purity. These crystals signify their excellence through their color, it means the whiter the stone the better. These stones are also used as translucent building material and be protective against rain.
